Frequently asked questions

Straight answers on remote vehicle viewing, access, add-ons, travel, and your private report.

Independent remote vehicle viewing and factual photo documentation. A local Field Specialist visits the vehicle, documents what is visible and accessible when permitted, and delivers a structured private report. We observe. We document. You decide.

No. AutoCheckView is documentation only — not a mechanical inspection, mechanical diagnosis, safety inspection, appraisal, or buy/don’t-buy recommendation.

Accessible and permitted exterior/interior areas included in your package, plus purchased add-ons when access and permission allow. Limitations are recorded. We do not lift, jack, or disassemble the vehicle.

Focus Areas tell the Field Specialist where to give extra attention. They do not reduce package coverage. Maximum 2 Focus Areas per vehicle. Quick View includes 1 (a second is +$5). Complete View and Full View include 2.

No. OBD-II Code Readout records what a compatible reader displays. Reader-provided text is not an AutoCheckView diagnosis.

OBD-II Code Readout is an optional add-on when ordered and permitted. It records codes displayed by a compatible reader at the time of the visit — not a diagnosis, root-cause analysis, or repair recommendation. Codes are not cleared. Third-party vehicle history reports are not currently offered. Do not expect a VIN history PDF with your visit.

Road Test Documentation is temporarily unavailable for new bookings while commercial auto coverage for non-owned vehicles is confirmed with our insurance broker. When offered again, Optional Road Test Documentation is available when ordered and permitted by the seller or facility and an authorized driver is available. AutoCheckView records the drive with video and factual notes only. It is not a mechanical, roadworthiness, or safety evaluation. Purchasing the add-on does not guarantee a drive will occur.

Live Video is an optional add-on: Up to 10 minutes. Optional extra 10 minutes available at booking. Permission required. It depends on access, permission, and connectivity and may not show inaccessible areas.

Third-party vehicle history reports are not currently offered. Do not expect a VIN history PDF with your visit.

We document only what is safely accessible and permitted. Limitations are recorded (for example, Not Accessible). An omission is not proof a condition does not exist.

The report records a factual status such as Not Permitted. If the main visit was completed and a separately paid add-on could not be performed, that add-on amount is refunded to the original payment method under the Terms. The package fee for a completed visit remains. Broader cancellations follow the Terms and your order status.

Eligible online cancellation is available for a limited window after payment (currently 24 hours), subject to visit-start and report locks. Eligible cancellation converts paid value to Available AutoCheckView Credits for a limited time — not a card refund, except where law requires otherwise or where an unperformed paid add-on is refunded under the Terms. Amendments follow the same order workflow rules.

AutoCheckView Credits are unused paid value from eligible cancellations or order changes. Portal labels include Available Credits and Reserved Credits. They are not a bank account or loyalty reward. Available credit lots generally expire after 3 calendar months under current configuration.

No. The report is a time-specific snapshot of accessible, permitted observations. Hidden, intermittent, or later-developing conditions may not appear.

Yes. We work for the customer who orders the visit — not the seller. We do not sell the vehicle and we do not give buy/don’t-buy recommendations.

Your requested time is a preference. We confirm the appointment after verifying seller/facility access and Field Specialist availability.

Payment is charged when you successfully complete checkout through our payment provider (Stripe). It is not a temporary authorization held for later capture under the current implementation. Charges may appear as RED-SNAKE TECHNOLOGY on your statement. See Terms for cancellation and credit rules.

We serve addresses within 290 miles one-way of our Raleigh service base, subject to access and scheduling.

Typical scheduling: 1–2 business days after access is confirmed. Report target: same day or within 24 hours after the completed visit. These are typical targets, not hard guarantees.

AutoCheckView is not a mechanical inspection. We observe and document accessible facts. We do not diagnose, certify safety, or recommend buying or declining a vehicle.

No. Field Specialists document observable facts. They are not hired to diagnose mechanical condition or perform repairs.

No. We record what is visible, audible, or displayed at the time of the visit. We do not explain causes or estimate repairs.

Yes, when the location permits the visit. The same packages apply everywhere — location type does not change package price. Travel is calculated separately.

No. There is no auction or location surcharge. Package and add-on prices are the same; travel uses our standard one-way distance formula.

Travel uses one-way miles from our Raleigh service base (max 290 miles). Return mileage is not charged separately. The server calculates the authoritative travel fee at booking.

When ordered and accessible, a compatible OBD-II reader is connected and AutoCheckView records the codes displayed by the reader at that moment. Codes are documented as shown only. We do not diagnose, clear codes, or recommend repairs.

No. We record codes as displayed by the reader. If the reader/software supplies a generic description, it is labeled as reader-provided and is not AutoCheckView commentary. We do not interpret failure, recommend repairs, or score severity.

We do not perform prohibited activities. The report records Not Permitted / Not Performed with a factual reason. We do not bypass facility or seller rules.

You should confirm special permissions in advance. Final access still depends on seller/facility rules and conditions at the visit.

We document the limitation. The report states Not Accessible, Not Permitted, or another factual access status — we do not invent coverage.

No. We observe. We document. You decide.

No. We may document visible paint or panel differences. We do not conclude accident history or structural condition.

Contact us as soon as you know. We follow the order/access workflow for reschedule or cancellation under the Terms in effect for your order.

We document the denial. Options for reschedule, cancel, or payment action follow the central policy referenced in Terms and your order status — not ad-hoc promises on this page.
